The pocket marsh design is very similar to the pocket pond. In this design, the bottom of the wetland intercepts the groundwater, which helps to maintain the permanent pool. Some evidence suggests that groundwater flows may reduce the overall effectiveness of stormwater management practices. This option may be used when there is not significant drainage area to maintain a permanent pool.
