Notes:
In the pocket pond design, a pond drains a smaller area than a traditional wet pond, and the permanent pool is maintained by intercepting the groundwater. While this design achieves less pollutant removal than a traditional wet pond, it may be an acceptable alternative on sites where space is at a premium, or in a retrofit situation. Excavation to groundwater interception should be avoided where the land uses draining to the pond may contaminate drinking water supplies.
