Slide 3 of 43
Notes:
This slide illustrates the conventional drainage channel. This channel has been traditionally used by engineers to convey runoff from roads and other impervious areas with non-erosive velocities and sufficient capacity to carry larger storms, such as the 10 year storm. While the drainage channel promotes some infiltration and pollutant filtering, no attempt is made to make pollutant removal a primary design objective. Past monitoring studies have revealed that the drainage channel does little to remove urban pollutants.
