The 22 model principles are the result of a national roundtable convened by the Center for Watershed Protection. The roundtable was a consensus process initiated to create more environmentally sensitive, economically viable and locally appropriate development. After 2 years of research and meetings, 22 model land development principles were adopted by the roundtable, and the Center produced a document entitled Better Site Design: A Handbook for Changing Development Rules in Your Community.
