Notes:
Erosion and sediment controls help to mitigate the impact of development, especially during clearing and grading. Perhaps the most destructive stage of the development cycle is the relatively short period when vegetation is cleared and a site is graded to create a buildable landscape. The potential impacts to receiving waters are particularly severe at this stage. Trees and topsoil are removed, soils are exposed to erosion, natural topography and drainage patterns are altered, and sensitive areas are often disturbed.
